Scholarship overview

The Rhodes Scholarships are postgraduate awards, it’s the oldest first awards, and considered as the one of the most prestigious Scholarship progamme. It is set to supporting outstanding all-round students at the University of Oxford. Being the first oldest, it’s Established in the will of Cecil Rhodes in the years 1902.

95 Scholars are selected each year for the Rhodes Scholarship.

1 June 2021 for spring falls and 1 July 2021 for summer.

Scholarship value:

The Rhodes Scholarship covers All university fees and stipend of (£15,900 per GBP annum) including settling allowance of (£225), health insurance, visa two economy class airplane tickets To and Fro.

Scholarship duration:

The Rhodes Scholarship period is always two (2) years

Target Group:

Candidates who are from Australia, Bermuda, Canada, China, East Africa (Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan, Burundi), Germany, Hong Kong, India, Israel, Jamaica and the Commonwealth Caribbean; Kenya, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Southern Africans countries such as (South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia and Swaziland);

Syria, Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine (SJLP); United Arab Emirates, United States, West Africa (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, the island of Saint Helena, Senegal, Sierra Leone, São Tomé and Principe, and Togo); Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Rhodes Scholarship requirements

The followings are the Rhodes Scholarship requirements/eligibility criteria which is applicable and Varies for all Applicant’s countries applying for the Rhodes Scholarship:

#1. Citizen and Residence:

All Applicants Apply for Rhodes Scholarship must comply with the citizenship and residency requirements in which they want to apply. Always check your country’s criteria here.

#2 Age Range:

The age limits for the Rhodes Scholarship varies between constituencies & range from minimum of 18 and maximum of 28 by 1st October, following selection year. Whereas in most constituencies, the age limit is 24 or 25 at most. endeavor to check the age range of your constituency before applying. Successful candidates are to arrive Oxford October the following the proceeding year of selection. Successful candidates are to Note: that there is no option of scholarship deferment.

#3 Education

  • All potential applicants must have achieved academic standing sufficiently advanced to assure completion of their Bachelor’s by the October following selection.
  • Candidates academic standing must be sufficiently high to ensure admission at the University of Oxford which is possesses a very competitive entry requirements, and to give confidence that Rhodes Scholars can perform to a high academic standards at Oxford university.
  • Individual constituencies may specify a first or its equivalent. Constituencies require a bachelor’s degree to have been taken in the confine constituency of the application.
