The Duquesne University School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is one of ten degree-awarding bodies that make up the Institution.

Currently, the program has 565 undergraduate and 282 graduate students.

Duquesne University School of Nursing Admissions

The primary consideration for admission is the high school’s academic record.

In order for your application to be reviewed by the Admissions Committee, candidates must:

  1. Have completed Algebra, Biology and Chemistry — all of which are requirements for Nursing.
  2. Have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0.
  3. Have scored at least 1080 on the College Entrance Examination Board Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or at least 22 on the American College Testing Program (ACT).
  4. Submit one letter of recommendation, preferably from a science or math teacher.
  5. Submit a personal essay, which follows the main Admissions guidelines.
  6. Applicants (and students) must meet the Technical Standards for Admission and the health requirements found in the Traditional BSN and Second Degree BSN Student Handbook.

As at 2021-2022 session 278 Candidates applied, 222 were accepted and 142 were enrolled.

The Duquesne University School of Nursing monthly fee is revised and adjusted each year.

Duquesne University School of Nursing Curriculum

The Duquesne University School of Nursing Curriculum consists of 91 credits pre-professional component in the humanities, basic sciences and medical sciences.

This educational component is completed in three academic years.

The accredited component is completed in 27 months, comprising 89 credits, and is divided into two phases.

  • Phase one
  • Phase two

Phase one (1) comprises 14 months of didactic and case-based courses in clinical and behavioral sciences, clinical laboratory sciences and applied clinical skills.

Phase two (2) consists of 12 months of Supervised Clinical Practice, in which students participate in the assessment and management of patients in a wide variety of clinical areas.

Students also participate in case-based courses as well as complete a master’s project in evidence-based medicine suitable for publication.
