The School of Nursing was the first public institution in Connecticut to offer a program that leads to a bachelor’s degree in nursing, and now also offers master’s, doctoral, certificate and continuing education courses.
At UCONN, Programs are dynamic and respond to changing health needs.
UCONN School of Nursing Curriculum
The School of Nursing offers two pre-licensing programs:
- A traditional 4-year baccalaureate program and
- A post-baccalaureate 2nd degree program
Certificate of Entry in Nursing / B.S. (CEIN / B.S.). The traditional degree program offers the opportunity to combine general education with professional nursing preparation.
This curriculum requires four academic years. The post-baccalaureate program, CEIN/B.S., is a one-year program designed for individuals with a bachelor’s degree in other fields.

UCONN is currently ranking 113th out of the nation’s 1,672 colleges and universities on the 2022 Best Colleges list.
This places it in the top 10% of all schools in the country. It also ranks 4th out of 17 schools in Connecticut.

UCONN has a 56% acceptance rate which means it is very selective. Take this into account when working on your application and gathering required materials. Do what you can to stand out from other candidates.

UCONN School of Nursing Requirements
- The UCONN will accept online lab courses for Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology I, and Anatomy & Physiology II through Spring 2022.
- Bachelor’s degree, attained by August at the latest, of the year in which the applicant is applying to the CEIN program (with undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred)
- An official transcript showing degree conferral is required before the application can be reviewed by the faculty committee. Holding a bachelor’s degree is required before applying to a second degree program
- Required courses, with B or better grades in each (a B- or below is not accepted), taken within eight years of enrollment

The UCONN School of Nursing Tuition for Academic Year (2021-2022) Per Credit Program Fee are:
- Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner $925
- Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner $925
- Doctorate of Nursing (Post Bachelors) $925
- Doctorate of Nursing Program (Post-Masters) $925
- Family Nurse Practitioner $925
- Neonatal Nursing $925
Excludes room and board, parking fees, and waivable fees.
Note: Mandatory Fees are subject to change with approval from the Board of Trustees.
